How to wear Internally Threaded Earrings

How to wear Internally Threaded Earrings

By now, you've heard us bring up the terms Externally and Internally Threaded Earrings a lot; and whilst you've probably worn lots of externally threaded piercings, we know the journey to internally threaded earrings can be a weird and foreign one. So here's everything you need to know about how to wear internally threaded earrings!
We recommend washing your hands, then either doing this in front of a mirror with a safe surface to catch your piercing pieces (just in case you drop them)! If you aren't confident enough to insert the earring in properly, we recommend going to your local piercer or grabbing friend (with clean hands) to assist you.
Need a step-by-step tutorial? Here are more helpful instructions.

Step 1: Unscrew the internally threaded earring head
In a twisting motion, like opening a jar, hold onto the front facing side of the earring and unscrew it anti-clockwise from the backing of the earring. This will reveal a screw-like texture on the front internally threaded part of the earring that you will re-insert later. This piece is quite tiny so make sure you have a good grip on it.
Step 2: Insert the back of the earring into your ear
Locate the back of your piercing (aka the hole) on your ear & gently push through the post. It may seem a little unusual at first, but once you find your way through the piercing, it only gets easier from here! It helps to put another finger on the front side of your piercing so you can feel for the post and make sure its navigating its way through your piercing.
Step 3: Twist on the front part of the earring
Whilst supporting the back piece of the earring already in your ear, use your other hand to insert the front half of the jewellery (the main piece with the design) by threading it into the back post turning it clockwise.
Step 4: Make sure your earring is secure
From here, just continue rotating until it stops turning. It doesn't need to be super duper tight but you want to make sure it is securely threaded together. Then you can adjust your piercing to your liking and that's it! You've got your internally threaded piercing in!
