For many of us, we grew up with anime. It is nostalgic yet beautiful in its own ways, and holds a special place in the hearts of many. This is something Chi Mai (Creative Director) kept in mind when designing the limited edition Anime {アニメ} Collection. Each piece is intricately crafted to pay homage to her favourite animes, and we’re so thrilled to be sharing it with you. We wanted to bring some of that anime magic into your everyday jewelry!
Umbrella of Stars Necklace
When creating this collection, I wanted to make a piece that would be its hero — enter the Umbrella of Stars Necklace. Inspired by Totoro's big rain umbrella that is a playful symbol of youth, he's seen using the umbrella to travel across different worlds with the children. And of course, the hidden stars inside the umbrella are inspired by the night sky where the children escaped to a faraway land with Totoro to engulf themselves in imagination and play. I think it’d be so cute for it to be worn as a cute piece of jewelry on a rainy day.
Jiji Necklace
The Jiji Pendant Necklace is inspired by Jiji the cat from Kiki's Delivery Service. Jiji represents home for Kiki, our young witch. The film is a big exploration of a coming of age story, with strong themes of independence and loneliness. A personal favourite from my childhood, I hope that Jiji gives you a sense of belonging, with its presence making you feel like home. I love that even at the back of the pendant, you can see the details of cat tail and broom. This makes a perfect gift for cat lovers, especially when they’re away from home to travel a lot.
Luna Earrings
Inspired by the Sailor Moon series of our childhoods, the Luna Earrings is a tribute to Luna, Usagi's black cat and her guardian. A romantic, she is often seen with Artemis & is a crucial character in Usagi (Sailor Moon)'s hero story after Usagi rescues Luna upon her arrival on Earth. This pair of ear jackets is perfect for the lobes, as the pearl stud connects to the bottom where the moon sits pretty. Nice for a dinner night out.
Tsukino Heart Necklace
Another Salon Moon piece is our Tsukino Heart Necklace, inspired by the Heart Moon Brooch used by Usagi Tsukino to transform into Sailor Moon. The words 'Moon Prism Power, Make Up' have been a memory for a lot of my 90's childhood watching the series as I grew up. The magic of the Brooch is one that I want to carry through to this special pendant piece. I think it would be a cute piece for a brunch date out with the besties.
Totoro's Dust Bunnies Earrings
The iconic movie 'My Neighbour Totoro' is a symbol of joy and innocence, with its world building like no other animation film of its era. The Totoro's Dust Bunnies, as imagined by the children, are illustrated in these climber earrings with a dangling chain attached. Whimsical, just like its characters, I hope this piece breathes imagination and child-like play into your every day.
Yui Ring
The Yui ring is inspired by Yui, the in-game daughter of Kirito and Asuna of Sword Art Online. A late 2000s favourite, the series brought a lot of joy to me as a young adult. The Yui ring is designed with adjacent gemstones inspired by the pixels that represent Yui herself in the game during the scene where she had to be deleted in order to save Kirito. Like its theme song lyrics, I hope this piece helps you find hope in dark days. It’s a great staple ring to wear every day to work.
Nezuko Bamboo Earrings
Inspired by the ever-so-popular anime series Demon Slayer, the Nezuko Bamboo Earrings are a tribute to Nezuko, Tanjiro's sister-turned-demon. Even though Nezuko is a demon, she has unconditional love for Tanjiro, and the bamboo muzzle represents her love and willingness to protect Tanjiro from herself. May this piece bring you protection and a sense of family love that is as unconditional as Nezuko's. It’s great worn at a cute family dinner.
Sasuke Ring
Inspired by a childhood favourite, Sasuke from Naruto is the main inspiration for the Sasuke ring. Sasuke is the last surviving member of the Village Hidden by Tree Leaves of the Uchiha clan. In the anime series, Sasuke is the main catalyst for Naruto's powerful journey, and the ring is a tribute to his ever so charismatic personality. Paired with a blue sapphire, representing loyalty, with a moon adjacent to form the shape of the leaf, representing Naruto and Sasuke's village origins. The pop of colour is lovely for an evening out at the bar.
Hikouki Ring
Inspired by the beautiful image of hope in the iconic film 'The Wind Rises' by Studio Ghibli, this ring represents the airplanes that offered this hope during the war in a dark and struggling Japan. Hikouki means airplane, it inspired the V-shaped ring with a row of pave crystals pointing towards a brighter future. Pair her with our Primrose ring for a maximum layered effect.
